Optional for new orders
Adjustable tow bar is an option when ordering a new sled. An adjustable hitch works in such a way that you can set the height of the towing eye to three different positions.
Questions about the height of the tow bar are something we get quite often. It can be good to be able to adjust the height of the drawbar if you have different snowmobiles to pull with or if you have a higher machine and want to get the sled in a more flat position. It may also be the case that an adjustable drawbar makes it more difficult to negotiate certain terrains, for example when passing plow frames. Our answer is that this is a matter of taste and our customers have different opinions. Start from how you use the sled and what suits you.
In addition to the flexibility of height adjustment, there are also clear operational benefits of an adjustable drawbar. By lowering the towing eye, you get a lower attachment point and therefore a lower center of gravity for the whole sled. This results in a more stable and responsive sled, especially on uneven terrain or when the sled is heavily loaded. A lower sled height also allows the sledto lie more flat behind the snowmobile, reducing the risk of tipping or wandering in tracks.
An additional advantage is that the sled becomes more adaptable over time. Competitors often have a fixed drawbar height, locking the sled to a specific type of snowmobiles. With our adjustable hitch, the sled can be used year after year – even if you change machine or lend it out – because the hitch is easily adjusted to the machine being used. This gives both longer life and a safer, more balanced sled in varying conditions.
Of course, we have an alternative for those who already have a sled without an adjustable tow bar.
We make our own S-hooks, also called goosenecks. They work in the same way but cannot be adjusted in several positions, but only lower the sled one step by about 10 cm.
